CPD Event – 27th October 2016 – Dysphagia and End of Life Care… How Can We Help?
End of life care aims to maximize the quality of life by treating symptoms, attending to comfort needs and supporting both the patient and significant others. In this setting, clinical decisions regarding dietary modification and artificial nutrition become complex ethical issues and decisions that need to be taken by the whole multidisciplinary team. A coordinated approach between team members taking into account the patient’s preferences is required to provide consistency in management of dysphagia at the end of life.
