Speaker: Ms Natalie Faulkes

Ms Faulkes is an experienced Speech Language Therapist working with children aged 1-19 since 2003. She has experience working with a range of communication difficulties such as language delay/disorder, social communication difficulties, speech sound difficulties, Dyspraxia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Ms Faulkes has a particular interest in working with children with additional needs and high functioning autism. Ms Faulkes works for The HANEN Centre and visited Malta to provide HANEN training courses to local SLPs.

Ms Faulkes presented a talk about the a program offered by HANEN entitled More Than Words. The More Than Words Program was specifically designed to address the unique needs of children on the autism spectrum. The program provides tools, strategies and support needed to help these children reach their full communication potential through the following goals:

• Improved social skills
• The ability to engage in back-and-forth interactions
• Improved understanding of language
